Frank Pentecost, Jr.

Frank H. Pentecost Jr. aka “Sonny” of Mount Vernon AR passed away on Tuesday evening Oct. 20, 2020 at the age of 83.

Frank is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn; Daughter Beverly (Todd) of Mount Vernon; Son Bo (Mimi) of Cabot; Grandchildren Colton Sherrill, Dixie Sherrill, Mei Pentecost and Erica Pentecost.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother Ottie L. Bennett and his parents Frank & Bessie Pentecost.

Frank was born and raised in Mississippi before joining the Air Force serving for 6 ½ years and then settling in Arkansas where he found and married the love of his life, Carolyn.

He went on to serve the North Little Rock Police department for several years before beginning his lifelong career with Missouri Pacific / Union Pacific Railroad where he retired after 26 years of service.

Frank was a talker and loved to tell jokes.  So you could bet he always had one to share and he was sincere when he would say “why don’t you come in and sit a while?”  Because you were going to be there for while talking and hearing jokes.  Frank was known for his ornery attitude at times, being a stinker, giving big hugs, picking on ya and just kind hearted and loving. Over the past year and half, he gained an extended family at Cabot Health and Rehab for which we are very grateful for and which also provided a whole new audience for sharing jokes.  He also built a special bond with one of his nurses that we will forever cherish, thank you, Mrs. McKenzie Sparks.

Most of all, Frank loved his family.  He loved supporting the kids and grandkids in any endeavor from ballgames, skating, gymnastics, music, working Razorback games and supporting his wife while she played music with a gospel band at one point in time.

Selfishly, Daddy/Frank/Sonny/Pops will be missed by his family, friends and all who knew him; however, we are at peace knowing he is rejoicing in heaven.  Until we meet again ole man….

Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 23rd at 9 am followed by the Service at 10 am at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe, AR.   Bro.
