Helen Pierce

Helen Marie Pierce, 82, of Haskell, Arkansas passed away November 18, 2020.  She was born February 24, 1938 in Altheimer, Arkansas to the late Alton Lafayette and Betsy “Annie” (Bearden) Blair.

Helen looked forward to going to the deer camp every season.  She and her husband, John, would often take off driving down the gravel roads in their truck.  They may be gone an hour or all day long.  Helen loved family get-togethers and was a wonderful cook.  She was always willing to make anything the family asked for.  One morning, the family woke up at 2:30 to find Helen making fried turtle for her special sons-in-law.  She taught her grandchildren how to enjoy her favorite treat- sour cream and onion potato chips.  One bag just wasn’t enough, she usually enjoyed at least two!  Helen also like to work word search puzzles.

Preceding Helen in death are her husband, John Pierce; daughter, Twyla Dempsey; great-grandson, Dylan Baker; parents; six brothers:  Junior “Yogi” Blair, Pete Blair, Arlie Blair, Acie Blair, Buddy Blair, and Alfred Blair; sister, Letha Caple; and two sons-in-law:  Anthony Hinds and Paul Baker.

She leaves behind two daughters:  Karla Hinds of Haskell, Arkansas and Arla Baker and husband Eddie Dean of Benton, Arkansas; five grandchildren:  John Dempsey and wife Amber, Gerald Hinds and wife Faith, Stephanie Holiman and husband Michael, Andy Baker, and Gena Baker and husband Tyler; eighteen great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Witham of Haskell, Arkansas; son-in-law, Timmy Dempsey of Haskell, Arkansas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who love Helen and will miss her always.

Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM, Sunday, November 22, at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market Street, Benton, Arkansas.  Funeral service, officiated by Bro.
