Henry Hutchins, Jr.

Henry David Hutchins, Jr., 79, of Beebe, AR, passed away, September 24, 2020

He was born in Beebe, AR, to Henry David Hutchins, Sr. and Ruth Normajean Howdeshell on November 2, 1940.  Henry graduated from Beebe High School and received a Bachelors of Science in Education from ASU Jonesboro.  Having met the love of his life, Hazel Janice Tanner, at ASJC in Beebe, they married September 29, 1961.

He worked a few jobs, AMF Cycle in Little Rock, Westinghouse in Little Rock for two years, MFA Insurance as a claims adjuster for five years, before finding his calling as a teacher in the Beebe school district, where he loved his role as an educator of future doctors, lawyers, bankers, bank robbers, and preachers, for the next 33 years.

He spent the next 18 years of retirement with family and many friends, loving his time in the outdoors tending his small herd of cows, puttering on the tractors, working in the shed, and camping.  During this time he & Mama went on adventures in CO, daring the peak to peak highway to the Continental Divide, a WY float trip down the snake river near Grand Teton National Park, & SD’s Mount Rushmore National Memorial.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry David Hutchins Sr and Ruth Howdeshell Hutchins.

He is survived by four children, Steven Wayne Hutchins (Joannie Elizabeth), Kerry Lynne Guyot, Dee Ann Culwell (David Harold), Holly Jean Shannon (Billy Keith); five Grandchildren, Josh Guyot (Brandy), Blaine Culwell (Samantha), Hannah Newell (Darren), Dalton Shannon (Alexis), Garrett Shannon; six Great-grandchildren, Austin Guyot, Tyler Guyot, Lillian Culwell, Audrey Culwell, Drake Newell, Averi Newell; and his faithful companion Rascal.

Visitation will be held 2pm – 4pm, Sunday September 27, 2020 at Smith Westbrook Funeral Home, 404 W Dewitt Henry, Beebe, AR.  Funeral service will be held 2pm, Monday September 28, 2020 at Smith Westbrook Funeral Home.  Interment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
