Hershell Stackhouse III

Hershell Stackhouse III, 67, of Redfield, passed on June 13, 2021.  Born August 5, 1953 in Fort Knox, KY, he was a son of Hershell Stackhouse, Jr. and Elizabeth J. Pokey Stackhouse.  He was reared and received his early education in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was a 1971 graduate of Northern Burlington High School in Wrightstown, New Jersey.

Hershell was a 1992 graduate of Mid-America College of Funeral Service, in Jeffersonville, obtaining a diploma in funeral service.  He served 23 years in funeral service, holding Arkansas Funeral Director’s license number 2902 and Arkansas Embalmer’s license number 1977.  He was proud of his funeral service work.  He always liked to talk about his part in the care and funeral of Virginia Kelley, the mother of then United States President, Bill Clinton.  He did most of his funeral service in Hot Springs and Pine Bluff.

In his spare time, Hershell loved to coach youth sports.  He coached baseball and football in Hot Springs.  He also coached girls’ basketball and softball in Redfield. He served on the board of directors of the Redfield Athletic Association. Hershell was also an avid Packers fan and would always have his Packers jersey on for game time.

Hershell was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Jan Stackhouse; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Heather Stackhouse of Joplin, Missouri; daughters and sons-in-law, Erin and John Hilburn of Cassville, Missouri and Erika and Hunter Penfield of Bryant; two brothers, one sister and five grandchildren, Gracen, Adilynn, Jordan, Brayden, Tucker and Hensley.

Visitation is Wednesday, June 16 from 6-8 p.m. and the funeral service is Thursday, June 17 at 10:00 a.m., both at Cherrywood Assembly of God in Redfield.
