Jack Elliott

Jack Elliott

Jack R. “Papaw” Elliott, 81, of Haskell, Arkansas passed away May 9, 2021.  He was born February 2, 1940 to the late Chester and Bernice Elliott.

Jack worked for Horton Drywall for over twenty years and his work is featured at Tinsel Town, Clinton Library, Baptist Medical Center, UAMS, Verizon Arena, Peabody Hotel, and many of the buildings in downtown Little Rock.  He loved spending time outdoors hunting and fishing.  Another hobby Jack enjoyed was treasure hunting at garage sales, flea markets, and yard sales.  Jack had a huge heart and loved deeply.  He raised six of his grandchildren as his own.  One of the grandchildren’s favorite memories was sitting down with Papaw eating oranges.  His four-year-old granddaughter, Emma Jean, said it best, “Papaw died and went to heaven, but he lives in my heart”.

Preceding Jack in death are his parents; son, Ronnie Spencer, Sr.; daughter, Angela Hunt; grandson, Ronnie Spencer, Jr.; and two brothers:  Jerry and Larry Elliott.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of forty-three years, Jewel Elliott of Haskell, Arkansas; three sons:  Johnny Spencer of Colorado, Matthew Spencer (Elizabeth) of Benton, Arkansas, and Randall Elliott of Texas; daughter, Connie Lovell (Ken Calvert) of Colorado; grandchildren he raised as his own:  Junior Hopkins, Randy Hopkins (Amber), Melissa Throgmorton (Phillip), C.W. Chambers, Jackie Williams (Louis), and Reesa Hopkins; ten other grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; three brothers:  Charles Elliott, Sam Elliott, and Bill Elliott; three sisters:  Sheila Bittick, Roxie Turner, and Shirley Petrey; and many more family members and friends who love Jack and will miss him always.

Graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 15, at Fairplay Cemetery.
