James Edward Jackson, 77, of Beebe, Arkansas, was born August 18, 1937 to Myrtle and Grady Jackson, and he passed away February 3, 2015 in Searcy.
He was a heavy equipment operator, a member of the National Guard and a Mason.
Mr. Jackson was a true community servant, who from 1976 until 1986, served the city of Beebe as a police officer and during that time was promoted to Chief of Police.
Along with being a police officer, he served with the Beebe Fire Department from 1970 until 1993 and also served as a city alderman and as a Justice of the Peace for White County.
Jimmy continued to serve his community from 1986 until 1997 working with the ASU-Beebe Police Department and obtaining the rank of Chief of Police.
After retiring from ASU-Beebe, he began another career as a school bus driver for the Beebe School District.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Jackson; his parents; and granddaughter, Nicki Jackson.
Jimmy is survived by two sons, Ricky L. Jackson (Trish) of Beebe, and Frank Jackson (Candy) also of Beebe; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jackie Jackson (Rose) of McRae.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Smith - Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Smith - Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Beebe Cemetery. Arrangements by Smith - Westbrook Funeral Home.
