Jim Martin

James (Jim) Luther Martin, 93, passed away peacefully November 20th, 2021. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas May 4th, 1928 to John and Ida Martin.

Jim's love of God, Family, and Country led him to join the Air Force April 24th, 1949. He would continue his Service as a Flight Engineer for a span of thirty-eight years, retiring at the rank of SMSgt (E-8). He served during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was a decorated hero, earning a Korean Service Medal and three Bronze Stars to name a few. He was also a lifetime member of Mt Pleasant Lodge, Ward AR.

His passions included fishing, junk’n, old cars, old guns, and antique watches.

Jim is survived by his wife of almost 52 years, Joanne Martin (Harrington), the only thing he loved more than the military; five children, Steven Lafferty, Stephen Martin, James Martin, David Martin, and Michelle Lafferty; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. Jim is rejoicing in heaven listening to Nat King Cole and eating ice cream with his dear loved ones who have been awaiting his arrival.

Jim loved big! He will be sorely missed by all. The world got a bit dimmer and the sky a bit brighter. God's speed until we meet again.
