John Glenn

John Vernon Glenn, 80, of Heber Springs passed from this life on Sunday, July 5, 2020. He was born Monday, October 23, 1939 in Greenbrier, Arkansas to the late Roy L. and Ollie McNew Glenn. Mr. Glenn graduated from Greenbrier High School and then went on to earn a Doctorate in Pharmacy. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, Maurine Smith and Syble Graham. Mr. Glenn was a member of Connection First General Baptist Church, Rotary, the Chamber of Commerce and the American Pharmaceutical Association. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be missed by all who were privileged to know him.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years, Lou Pearson Glenn; children, Gina (Steve) Pilkington of Heber Springs, Vicki (Jackie) McPherson of Heber Springs, Amanda Ward of Dallas, Texas, John “Chip” (Andrea) Glenn of Cabot; grandchildren, Meghan McHan, Lindsey Lynch, Karista Van Nest, Audrey Crouch, Madison Woodlee, Keegan McPherson, Alex Ward, Andrew Ward, Elizabeth Ward, Grayson Glenn; great-grandchildren, Axley Davis, Zine Gale and Tui Woodlee. Other survivors include siblings, Mary Ann Hammershoi, Nancy (David) Powell, Patty (Jerry) Stroud, Robbie (Donald) King and Bobbie (Wayne) Riffle along with a host of extended family and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, July 10 beginning at 9:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m., at Connection First General Baptist Church in Heber Springs with Reverend Kevin Causey officiating. Interment will follow at Thorn Cemetery in Greenbrier. Memorials in Mr. Glenn’s memory may be made to Gideons International, PO Box 140800, Nashville, Tennessee 37214 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
