Larry Powell

Larry Eldon Powell, 66, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021, surrounded in love, at CHI St. Vincent in Little Rock.

Larry was born on May 17, 1955 in Woodstock, Illinois.

Larry loved to travel all over the world, but called Miami his home.  Larry loved pizzas, cheesecakes, and Melissa’s molasses cookies.  He held various construction careers throughout his life-primarily road, commercial and residential construction, and demolition.  He lived his life as explosive as the dynamite he used. Larry attended various trade schools and continued his education throughout his career.

On June 13, 2008, Larry married the love of his life, Carla, in a quirky, little antique shop in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  They loved one another so much, they married again that same year, in front of family and friends.

Larry was a member of Fairplay Missionary Baptist Church and was of the Baptist faith.

Larry was a big kid at heart.  He most loved spending time with all his kids and grandkids.  Thousands of movies were watched, millions of hot wings and ribs were eaten, but always a prank or hard times was given.

Larry leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Carla; his children:  Melissa (Jonathan) Cole, Larry Jr. (Larissa) Powell, Brittney (Ray) Koonce, and Ashley Cole; his grandchildren Brody, Drake and Jensen Cole, Kaylee and Hawkin Ellis, Sadie and Kennedy Cole, and Cam Powell.  Also left to cherish him is his best pal, his dog Bruce “Boo” Powell.  He is also survived by his father and mother-in-law, Billy and Carolyn Beck,  and his partner in crime-his favorite sister-in-law, Cristy Williamson.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of CHI St. Vincent in Little Rock for the amazing care and concern not just for Larry, but our entire family.  A special thanks to Dr. Brad Baltz, Philip Winston, Gayla Bailey, and the chemo and oncology groups at CHI St Vincent.
