Loretta Reed

Loretta Marvella Sims Reed, of Beebe, Arkansas, passed away December 31, 2020.  She was born December 15, 1937 in Searcy, Arkansas to Opal (Garrison) and Alfred Olan Sims. She and her brother, Jim, grew up in White County. She attended high school in Searcy and Beebe, after which she attended college at ASU-Beebe where she met the love of her life, Carol Reed. The two were soon married and established their home in Judsonia. Following the birth of their two children that she loved so dearly, the family relocated to Beebe where she assisted her husband as co-founder and co-owner of Reed, Inc., a successful heating and air company, until the time of their retirement. Loretta and her husband were happily married for 64 years.

Loretta was a gifted artist with a flair for style and fashion, and could piece together something pleasing from scraps of fabric, clay, or paint. She was a gentle and loving soul with a lightning quick wit, and was happiest with simple pleasures, feeding and watching birds, growing flowers, browsing antique stores, and spending time with those she loved. She was caring, classy, and cool. She had the ability to gather a crowd and then make each individual feel unique and welcome.

Loretta left us peacefully on New Year’s Eve 2020 to join her beloved Carol. She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband and partner, Carol Reed, and her son, Al. She leaves behind daughter Marvella and husband, Cliff Brown, who cared for her so devotedly, her brother James Sims (Barbara), granddaughters Amie, Sarah (Mel), Hannah (Ian), grandson Jake, five great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Tina (Anthony), niece Sherry, nephew Eric, and adopted son Jarrett. She is survived by Michelle, Tara, Rose, and so very many friends.
