Marlon Murray

Marlon Kelly Murray, 59 of Sherwood, went to heaven on Friday, November 20, 2020. He is survived by his wife of over forty years, Susan; his sons Jeremy and Jeffery Murray; his grandson, Nathan Murray; his dad, Fred Murray; and his brother, Eric Murray (Paula Berry). He leaves multiple extended family members to cherish his sweet memories: Erica (Jon) and Ella and Emma and Austin and Abby Ruelle; Emery (Jessica) Murray; Evan Murray; Rance and Rufus Buffington; Jamie (Daniel) and Oliver Salmon; James (Elissa) Berry; Robbie and Stephen Dillon; Jana King; Whitney (Trent) and Lydia and Julianne Tappan; Channing (Daniel) and Leah and Reed Emerson; Thomas Harrison; and Tim (Nina) and Maitlyn and Scott and Caleb and Luke Harrison. Marlon was preceded in death by his mom, Wendell Murray; his grandparents, Pa Jack and Momma Dennie Murray, and Pa Howard and Granny Ada Ramsey; his father and mother-in-law, Robert and Vanda Harrison; and his true friend and best buddy brother-in-law, Rusty Dillon.

Marlon was a faithful member of Northside Pentecostal Church for over forty-three years. He professionally worked and retired from Dillards Corporate after twenty-seven years of service. He also worked part-time as a school crossing guard for Sherwood Elementary for more than twenty-five years, and he additionally worked part-time as a Sales Associate for “Mardels Christian Bookstore” for over five years.

Marlon truly loved his wife and entire family with everything within him. His boys, his two sons, Jeremy and Jeffery, were his world. Then came that sweet grandson, Nathan, and need we say more. Marlon was a wonderful husband, a faithful dad, a best friend to his sons, and a certainly proud “pap-paw.” It was always "Marlon and The Boys", (as Susan would say), rarely ever seeing him without one or more of his favorite side-kicks, which was exactly how he wanted it. And for all the other roles and titles he carried— Son, Brother, Grandson, Uncle, Nephew, Son-in-Law, Brother-in-Law, Friend… the list goes on— he faithfully fulfilled every duty associated with all these titles. Marlon was always willing to do whatever was needed or asked and, without failure and leading by example, he consistently demonstrated his unconditional love and commitment each and every day.

We thank you, Marlon, for giving us a lifetime of sweet memories to cherish forever. Most importantly, we thank you for being a wonderful Christian husband to Susan, and a loving Christian dad to Jeremy and Jeffery. Every day, you faithfully showed the world you were not simply a husband and dad, but you were their lifeline and best friend for anything they needed and desired. (Not to mention all the "anything elses" that the "Queen Bee" may have asked or told you to do). We will forever love you and miss you, and we thank God for your life.
