Martha Fewell

Martha Jo Fewell passed away on July 9, 2020. She was born on August 11, 1941 in Centerpoint, Arkansas to the late Coy and Verlie (Gilbert) Wickens. Martha was their only child and said that she and her young mother “grew up together”. She learned how to use a treadle sewing machine at a young age. After graduating from Dierks High School in 1959, she ventured to the big city of Little Rock to attend Arkansas Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, graduating as an RN in 1962. While working as a nurse she met and married Fred Williford Fewell.  Together they had two daughters, Maria Wright (Joe) and Amy Keach (Rick). When her daughters were born, she was proud to become a stay-at-home mom.  After her daughters were older, she went to work for the North Little Rock School District as a school nurse.  Fred and Martha enjoyed raising their children and traveling. They celebrated over 50 years of marriage together before his passing in 2017. Grandchildren of the Fewell’s are Justin Wright, Alexander Keach, and Aidan Keach. Special memories we have of Mom or Grandma are her love of sewing, her love of reading with her children and grandchildren, her skill in growing vegetables, and her all-around thoughtfulness of others. She enjoyed spending time with the Arkansas Quilters Guild and had a love of beautiful fabrics. She relished sewing retreats with the group. She had many cats throughout the years that she loved dearly. Above all, Martha was saved by our Lord Jesus Christ and knew this in her heart. She was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church.  In addition to her children and grandchildren she is survived by several cherished aunts and cousins.
