Mary Carole Williams

Mary Carole Williams, 78, of Sherwood, AR passed away quietly in her home on July 20, 2020, after a lengthy illness, with her beloved dog by her side.  Born March 15, 1942, to the late Dr. Joseph H. Williams and Thurston Nyleen (Daniel) Williams in Raleigh, North Carolina, Ms. Williams was raised in Alice, Texas where she graduated from William Adams High School in 1960.  A graduate of Texas A&I/A&M and the University of Kingsville, Texas with a degree in Science and Education, Ms. Williams taught grade school and was a pharmaceutical sales representative for Ayerst Laboratories for several years.  After studying computer programming, she was an accomplished and successful Programmer Analyst at many local hospitals for 27 years before she retired.

An avid lover of history and genealogy, Carole was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United States Daughters of 1812 and Arkansas Pioneer Families. She considered herself a proud Irish-American. She loved religion and debates about scripture, and practically anything else, and was prone to verbally sparring with anyone who would sit still long enough to listen. Everyone who knew her knew she was lively, willful, stubborn and “marched to the beat of her own drummer.”  Above all, she loved her daughters and her dogs, and was most content in her home surrounded by them all.

Ms. Williams was predeceased by her parents, Dr. Joseph H. Williams and Thurston Nyleen Daniel (Williams), her brother Neal Roth Williams and sister, Thurston Nyleen Williams (Cornett).   She is survived by her daughters, Liesse L. Langlois (Jerry) and Kathleen J. Saputo (Brien), brother Joseph Harold Williams, Jr., and nephews Joseph Harold Williams, III, TSgt, USAF, John Cornett, Neal Cornett and Justin Williams.

A private viewing for family and friends will be held at Smith - Sherwood Funeral Home at 4 PM, Wednesday, July 29, followed by a graveside service and interment later at Roselawn Cemetery in Baton Rouge, Louisiana next to her parents.  All COVID19 mandates will be followed at the viewing, so please bring a mask if you come.  During her life, Ms. Williams was an avid giver of charity to women’s shelters for single mothers.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Women & Children First shelter at https://www.wcfarkansas.org/donate.  Erin Go Bragh!
