Marylene Weir

Marylene Hill Weir, age 93, of Pearland, TX was born December 18, 1928, in Beebe, AR, and received by her Savior on January 3, 2022. Known by her warm smile and quick Arkansas wit, she touched the lives of so many. She was a true class act and respected and loved by all who knew her. She had a long and very successful career as a legal secretary and Landman for the Houston oil tycoon Wesley West for over three decades. She was a Sunday school teacher and a very active and involved “Mimi” in the lives of her grandchildren. She never took no for an answer and could always be found sewing outfits or drapes for one of the kids. She was the yearly planner for all holiday events and socials. Everything was in triplicate copies before the internet. She was most at home being James Weir’s wife and personal secretary for over 69 years until his passing in 2016.

Marylene is survived by her son Greg Weir and wife Betty (Rex and Samantha); daughter Elaine Lawson and husband Ira (Landon IV and fiancé Fallon; Stuart and wife Jessica and great-grandchildren Lilly Grace and James; Kristen Rhodes and husband Marshall and great-grandchildren Addison and Grayson); deceased son Rick Weir (Blake and Christie, and Hannah Cash); and brother-in-law Charles Weir and wife Pernell, and numerous relatives and friends. Marylene was preceded in death by her husband James Weir, son Rick Weir, her parents Irvin and Dovie Hill, and her brother Jimmy Hill.

Special thanks to Mary Katherine Muse for her countless hours of encouragement and personal friendship. Thanks to Larry Dunn and the volunteer staff at The Gathering at the Lakewood Methodist Church of Spring TX. They provided Marylene’s final years with love and many cherished memories.
