Maxine Polk
Maxine Ruth Lipke Polk passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2019. She was born August 14, 1924 in Little Rock to Gus Max Lipke and Mamie Gertrude Hoff Lipke. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 46 years, Lewis Polk, Jr.; son, George Max Polk; and her sister, Marian Hoff Lipke.
Maxine graduated from Central High School in Little Rock and the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville with a BS in Chemistry. She was employed by UAMS as a Medical Technologist for 40 years.
She was a wife, mother and friend to many. She loved working in her flower gardens, quilting, traveling, and going to estate sales and auctions.
Maxine was an active member of Oak Forest United Methodist Church for 50 years where she taught Sunday School for 20 of those years, and where she was actively involved in the Food Pantry and the United Methodist Women Organization.
She is survived by son, Bob Polk and wife, Jerry Ann of Austin, Texas, along with numerous cousins and friends. Survived by what she called her "second family," descendants of Jack and Sarah Chenault; John Chenault, Starr Boschetti (Mike), Larry Chenault their five children and eleven grandchildren.
Special thanks to her loving caregivers, Emmer Hale and Dora Bone, along with the special care she received from Arkansas Hospice.
The funeral service will be held at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.) on Monday, January 6th at 11:30 a.m., preceded by visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, 2801 Asher Avenue in Little Rock. Memorials may be made to the Oak Forest United Methodist Church Food Pantry, 2415 Fair Park Blvd., Little Rock, AR 72204.
