Michael Fuller

Michael F. Fuller passed away peacefully on July 20, 2021, in his home in Little Rock, Arkansas, after a lengthy battle with metastatic prostate cancer. The son of David F. Fuller and M. Juanita Brewer, he was born September 4, 1947, in Ironton, Missouri. He grew up in Little Rock, where he attended Central and Hall High Schools. He initially attended college at Arkansas Tech in Russellville, where he played on the golf team and was active in the Cavaliers fraternity. He went on to graduate from the University of Arkansas in 1971 with a degree in civil engineering. Upon graduation, he moved to Texas and began his career in environmental engineering. He worked for and became a partner at Environmental Improvements (EI2), helping to build up the successful Austin office.

In retirement, Mike returned to his home state and enjoyed golfing, gardening, traveling, and hiking. In 2018, Mike hiked a 223-mile section of the Ouachita trail from Pinnacle Mountain to Talimena Park, Oklahoma, over a period of several months. He considered this a great accomplishment at the age of 69. He also cherished memories of his golf trip to Ireland with his brother David.

He had a great zest for life and was well known for his good humor, sharp wit, storytelling, and friendliness. When his children were young, Mike volunteered as a scout leader, baseball coach, and golf coach. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, sudoku, playing Words with Friends, and the deep friendships of his many golf buddies. He and his wife Anne loved to garden together, entertain family and friends, and travel in their RV.

Mike was a Master Gardener and a member of the Men’s Golf Association and Pleasant Valley Country Club. He was also a member of St. James Methodist Church and First Christian Church of Little Rock.

He is preceded in death by his parents, David Fitzgerald Fuller and Marion Juanita Brewer.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Huppertz Fuller; sister, Joyce Nible; brother, David Fuller (Sandy); children, Greg Fuller, Ashley Fuller McAnulty (Kevin); adopted son, Darren Craig Fuller (Chelsea); stepdaughter, Nicole Borg Brown; stepson, Jeffrey Borg (Katie); and grandchildren, Robert Fuller, Madelyn Brown, Sage Borg, and Wyatt Fuller.

The family would like to thank their many friends for their support during Mike’s two-and-a-half-year journey battling cancer; in particular, his lifelong friend Richard Thompson and his golf group. Special thanks also to Dr. Brad Baltz and staff, St. Vincent Infusion Center staff, Home Hospice Care employees in Little Rock, and Mike’s two church families at St. James Methodist Church and First Christian Church, both in Little Rock. A celebration service of Mike’s life will be held at St. James United Methodist Church at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 27, at 321 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock, AR 72212. A reception will follow in the Welcome Center. Those joining will be asked to wear a mask and adhere to church requirements for social distancing. Mike absolutely loved the color orange, so feel free to wear something orange in his honor.
