Nancy Rose Grimes

Nancy Rose Holiman Grimes, age 93 was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 21st 2020.
Rose was born in Prattsville Arkansas on October 14th, 1926 to parents Tilman and Nellie Williams Holiman. Rose grew up on a farm in Mabelvale, Arkansas with six sisters and two brothers, one of which was her twin brother Ross.

Rose attended Mabelvale High School where she was a standout athlete, playing basketball and running track. Her love of sports continued in later life through coaching. She coached her daughters and many other young women in softball for many years. She helped start and organize Little Oaks Park in Mabelvale where both daughters and son played. She loved fishing, gardening and camping. Anything outdoors was her choice for fun.

Rose also began writing poetry and playing the piano at a young age. She would write and play for the remainder of her long life. She loved to sing and taught her children to sing and harmonize and played piano for them in church and wrote hundreds of poems for friends, family, events or just for the love of it. She loved people and never met a stranger. Everyone was welcome in her home. She loved to entertain and welcomed all her children's friends without questions. Although she faced difficulties in life her faith stayed strong.
After graduation in 1944, she moved to Little Rock, lived with her sister and worked at a bank until she met and  married Royce Grimes and had three children, Susan Kay Grimes, Roseanne Grimes Sallis and Royce William Grimes Jr. Rose was an ardent believer, studied her Bible and was a faithful church member for her entire life. She and her husband were charter members of Meadowcliff Baptist Church where they raised their children and Rose taught Sunday School and played piano. Later in life Rose moved to Maumelle and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Maumelle where she sang in the choir and taught class into her 80's.

After God, Rose loved her family above all else. She is survived by one sister, Sybil Brockett, three children, Susan Grimes, Roseanne Grimes Sallis and husband Guy Sallis, Royce William Grimes Jr. and wife Khin Grimes, Grandchildren Albert Aung, Sharon K Hun and husband Shun Hun, Great grandchild Silas William Hun also many nieces and nephews.

Thank you to Sherwood Nursing Home and Rehab staff, nurses and CNA's that loved her, cared for her and endured her singing and her sparkly hats.
