O'Leta Walker

O’Leta Irene Smith Walker, age 95, passed away peacefully at Sherwood Nursing and Rehab on January 4, 2021. She was born in Casa, AR on September 9, 1925 to Will and Cora Smith.

She was a graduate of Casa High School and a member of 47th Street Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and pastor’s wife.

She is preceded in death by her beloved grandson Justin Walker, her husband Ed Walker, two sisters and three brothers. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Karen Page (Bob), her son, Eddie Walker (Joni), grandchildren, Johnnie “Zane” Mayfield Jr., Mikey Page (Nicole), Deanne Spease, (Tim), Katie Reid, and nine great grandchildren.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and wife. After she graduated from high school, she and her sister moved to Little Rock and became city girls. She never expected to become a preacher’s wife, but was always up for a challenge. She loved helping at the church, especially with the children in Sunday School and singing in the choir. She was always willing to help anyone. While Ed was the one receiving the glory, she was the wind beneath his wings. Even after he had a stroke she cared for him for the next ten years. She continued in church even after she moved to Sherwood Nursing and Rehab.

We would like to acknowledge the great care she received at Sherwood Nursing and Rehab. She was very helpful with the other residents and enjoyed her activities there including church. Special thanks to Alex, Brittany, and especially Larissa, who went above and beyond the call of caring for her. They will always be considered family. A very special thanks to Kindred Hospice, who made her final days easier.

She will be greatly missed, but she’s in a much better place.

Honorary pallbearers are John Page, Mikey Page, Clifton Page, Johnnie Mayfield Jr., Logan Reid, Wiley Reid, Sully Reid, Chuck Ashley, Robert Dudley and Michael Dudley. Bro. Tim McMinn will officiate.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Sherwood Animal Shelter .

A memorial service will be held at 1:30PM Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Smith-Sherwood Funeral Home (7700 Hwy 107) with visitation one hour prior to the service.
