Paul Douglas Hughes, 49, passed away on February 14, 2021. He went to meet his Heavenly Father, earthly father, grandfather, grandmother, uncles, cousins, and many friends that have passed on.
Paul was the son of Diana G. Hughes of Benton, and William Ross Hughes who preceded him in passing on August 2, 2019. He was a 1989 graduate of Benton High School. Paul was an employee of Thompson Electric of Little Rock.
Paul is survived by his two daughters, Jessie Hollis of Fort Smith and Megan Eastwood of Fayetteville; grandson, Malachi Owens; son, Tanner Hughes of Prairie Grove; mother, Diana Hughes of Benton; brother, John Hughes (Nikki) of Jonesboro; sister, Tara Hughes of Benton; and grandmother, Louise Teague of the Ten Mile Community. Paul is also survived by his stepmother, Gwin Teague Hughes of Benton; stepbrothers: Robert Dale Teague (Angie) of Springdale; and James Michael Teague (Debbie) of Little Rock; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Bill Hughes of Benton; grandfather, J.R. Teague of Benton; grandmother, Ruby Hughes of Benton; two uncles: Senator James Teague and Gary Teague of Benton; nephew, Tyler Teague; and cousin, Stefany Teague.
Paul had many friends in Jonesboro, Benton, and Hot Springs. It seems appropriate that his passing was on Valentine’s Day as most who knew him would describe him as a “real Sweetheart”. He loved his family and friends and the beauty of the falling snow.
Funeral service, officiated by Bro. Will Diggs, will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 20 at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market Street, Benton, Arkansas. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial at Ten Mile Cemetery. State of Arkansas COVID-19 Directives: Masks are required and social distancing maintained.
