"My Girl"
"Talking About My Girl!"

I was born February 9, 1950 to Ms. Bertha Canady-Byers in a small close-knit community known as Hattieville, AR. On my arrival I was welcomed by my oldest sister Georgia Faye, my grandmother Adeline and my grandfather Deacon Talton (T.K.) Canady. When I was two years old I helped to welcome my younger sister LaVeta and at age seven my baby sister Janice (Pat) arrived. What a joy it was to have my mom, grandmother, and sisters!

During my childhood I professed a belief and hope in Jesus Christ at New Prospect Baptist Church, Cleveland, AR where I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior.

I attended Center Community school in Cleveland, AR. During my junior years I was a student at Menifee High School until the year of segregation was implemented. I was then transferred to Wonderview High School, Cleveland, AR where I graduated.

Upon graduation from high school I relocated to Kansas City, MO where I was employed and lived for over 37 years. During my stay in Kansas City I became an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan! After my stay in Kansas City I relocated to Arkansas and Little Rock became my home.

My life in Kansas City was fulfilled with the birth of my daughters Marquita my oldest daughter and Tiffany (Anthony Thomas Sr.). What a joy and a challenge motherhood brought! My girls certainly kept me busy! My daughters brought even greater joy to my life with the arrival of my six grandchildren. They are children from Marquita; Erica, Justin (Tracey), Julian (Cynthia), Branden (Paige) and Ashley; from Tiffany is Ramone (Chelsea), extended children and grandchildren include Ebone (Kris) and granddaughter Lyric; Ashley and granddaughter JuJu, and Anthony Jr. (Bubba, Aiden and Alana).

Greater joy came with the blessing of my great-grandchildren Isaiah, Joshua, Jordan, Mariah and Sky children of Julian; Justin Jr., Zoey and step-great granddaughter Avery children of Justin; Nicole daughter of Ashley; Princeton son of Branden; Kyan (Nunu), and Noah sons of Ramone.

I enjoyed time with my family and friends doing things such as karaoke, backyard cook-outs, traveling, shopping, domino and spades nights and casino weekends! One of the things I greatly enjoyed was fashion and dressing for the occasion. I will never forget one of our outings was a family picnic and I was teased because I arrived in my "stiletto heels"!

Life was good and was always an adventure for me and I approached it daily as a challenge with a plan! I embraced life and live it to the fullest! As I say my good-byes to all that I loved just know that I love you and encourage you to do the same.

I have great joy in knowing that my legacy will live on through my children and grandchildren. I leave precious memories to my daughters Marquita and Tiffany, my grandchildren and great-grandchildren, my loving sisters Georgia Faye, LaVeta and Janice, my uncle and aunt Herman and Canera Canady, my "bestie" Rosalind Geredine, my great friends Tameka Pearson, Teresa Adams, Earl Warren and Doylene Collier and my nieces, nephews and cousins.

I trust that as life continues and goes forward that my family and friends will be blessed.
