Rhonda Jones

Rhonda Lucille (Hargett) Jones, of Sherwood, passed peacefully into the arms of God on August 30, 2021. Born on June 1, 1960, to Maxell and Viva Hargett, Rhonda was the baby of the family among her four siblings. She is survived by her high school sweetheart, turned adoring husband, of 42 years, Mark Jones; daughters, Brandi Sipes (Brian), Cheyenne Jones; her cherished grandson, Carson Sipes; mother, Viva Nell Hargett; brother, David Hargett (Cindy); sister, Renee Jackson (Bobby); sister, Cheryl Bohn; in-laws, Clifford and Sue Patton; her adoring nieces and nephew along with their families, and a host of others who loved her. She was preceded in death by her father, Elzy Maxell Hargett;  brother, Larry Hargett, and many cherished family members who it is imagined all met her at the gates of Heaven to welcome her home.

The youngest and smallest as one of five siblings, Rhonda was the epitome of the quote, “Though she be but little she is fierce.” As a child, she proved she would never back down from protecting herself, her siblings, or any of those she loved. This trait continued through her life as a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Rhonda was the ultimate protector and used her fierceness to do everything she could for the people she loved, whether that was showing up wherever she was needed, offering honest advice and a prayer, listening without judgement, or sometimes just giving the famous “Rhonda eye” as a warning. Her strength was relentless as she faced cancer with the same determination, proving that despite how cancer may affect the body, it cannot weaken your spirit and soul.

Growing up, Rhonda was passionate about athletics and as one of the fastest runners, was known to outrun all her classmates.  She later passed on that passion for sports to three of her greatest loves, her daughters and grandson Carson. Some of her favorite memories and stories revolved around proudly supporting her girls in cheer, softball, and soccer. Once she became a Mimi, you could find her cheering with that same energy for Carson, especially watching him play baseball. She would often brag about his latest athletic successes and was equally proud of his academic achievements.

The family would like to thank the incredible staff at Arkansas Hospice, who were a source of great comfort. Rhonda was a proud dog mom of Killer, Pork Chop, and Jonesy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local humane animal shelter to honor her love for all dogs.
