Rosie Winstead

Rosalinda Susan Winstead, 84, of Little Rock, went home to be with the Lord Friday afternoon, October 26, 2018, surrounded by her husband Sam, her three children and other family and friends.

Rosie was born on February 5, 1934 in Brownsville, Texas to United States Army Chief Warrant Officer Carrol Floyd Davis and Juana Ledesma Davis, the middle child and only sister to older brother John, who preceded her in death, and younger brother Charles, who now lives in Flippin, Arkansas. She attended schools in the United States including Hawaii and Germany, and following in her father's footsteps, she continued her love of travel, visiting 17 countries and all 50 states.

At 21 years old, Rosie met Sam Winstead in Little Rock and married a year later. As young marrieds, Sam and Rosie both had day jobs - she worked several years for Griffin Leggett Funeral Homes - while also owning and operating laundromats around Pulaski County. Together Sam and Rosie continued to find new business opportunities, to grow their family and to be actively involved in the community and their home church, Geyer Springs First Baptist.

Rosie loved and trusted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She lived out her faith as wife, mom, and friend daily. Rosie spent mornings reading the Bible. She actively pursued a verse the Lord gave her for her family, Isaiah 44:3. Her desire for her family to know God's love and salvation was her top priority. Rosie demonstrated this as she faithfully and lovingly cultivated relationships with each of her children and grandchildren.

Rosie is survived by Sam, her husband of 62 years, their three children and their families, Neal and Jenni (Samuel, Jonathon, and Brooke); Brian (Kristin and Tanner Cypret and son Tanner, Justin, and Joshua); and Michelle and John Ray White (Corie, John Tyler, and Allie); and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30 at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church. Visitation will precede the service from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow the service at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Alexander.

Memorials may be made to Geyer Springs First Baptist Church, 12400 I-30, Little Rock, AR 72210 or to the Humane Society of Pulaski County, 14600 Colonel Glenn, Little Rock, AR 72210.
