Scottie Brooks was born on April 16, 1925. She passed away in Little Rock, Arkansas on May 23, 2021, she was 96. Scottie was born in a home on Clouds Creek in Rogersville, Tennessee. She is survived by her daughter, Debra Keene; and her two grandsons, Don Keene, Jr, and Matthew Keene, their wives Vanessa Keene and Vivian Keene; and two great granddaughters Mo and Mya Keene; two sisters, Mona Wylie, and Patsy Boyd; brothers in law, Howard Klepper, Larry Boyd; nieces and nephews, Phyllis Mackie, Judy Brogan, Rita Harris, Anthony Williams, Sharon Bradley, David Carpenter, Terry Davis, Jeffrey Davis, Hannah Bell, Julia Hoover, Susan Rice, Daniel Boyd, Stephen Klepper and Sarah LeRoy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, JJ and Louise Mustin Carpenter; sisters, Bernice Williams, Claudine Davis, Hilda Klepper and her brother, Virgil Carpenter all of Rogersville, Tennessee.
Scottie worked for 20 years at the White Store in Rogersville before relocating to Houston, Texas where she worked for Elf Aquitaine Oil until she retired. She was a member of the Markham Street Baptist Church. Scottie an excellent seamstress, an expert at knitting, crochet, and crewel. Her favorite project was hand quilting, a passion she loved to share with her friends and family having made and gifted hundreds of quilts in her life – ensuring there will always be a piece of Scottie in all of our homes and in all of our lives.
Arrangements by Smith Sherwood Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at the Carpenter Cemetery, in Rogersville, Tennessee at a future date.
