Tommy Batt

On Wednesday, July 14, 2021, Tommy Batt, loving husband, father of three, and granddad of eight, passed away at the age of 80 at his home in Benton, Arkansas.
Thomas Charles Batt was born on November 20, 1940 in Los Angeles, California to Woodrow and Grace Batt. While attending Southwestern Assembly of God College in Waxahachie, Texas, he met the love of his life, Ann Fite and married her on December 16, 1960. They raised one son, Gary, and two daughters Sherrie and Kim.

Tommy had a real talent for making homes beautiful through his wallpaper and painting business for 58 years. Most of all, Tommy loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ with all his heart. He had a passion for singing gospel music. He recorded two albums in the 1990s. He did street ministry for many years. It was a common occurrence to find Tommy at the bus station, in a prison, on the side of the road, or in a restaurant praying with someone and leading them to the Lord. In his later years, he continued to hand out tracks and witness to as many people as he could.

Through the years, Tommy pastored two churches. His favorite years spent in the ministry was the 9 years spent as the youth pastor at Benton First Assembly of God.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marion Ann Fite-Batt; son Gary Batt, his wife Leigh, and their children Ryan, Chase, and Lori of Rogers, Arkansas; daughter Sherrie Muasau and her sons, Rocky and Jacob of Benton, Arkansas; daughter Kimberly Park and her children Kailei, Alex, and Caden of Benton, Arkansas; brother, Dennis “Buddy” Batt; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Doris Batt-Earp and Mollie Batt-Gattin; brother, Edward Batt; and parents, Woodrow and Grace Batt.

Tommy loved wearing his Hawaiian shirts. We encourage everyone to wear their Hawaiian clothing to celebrate his life.
