Tommy Clevenger

We regret to announce that Tommy J. Clevenger, 82, of Little Rock, AR passed away on July 8, 2020 in Little Rock due to complications from coronavirus. Tommy was born on September 21, 1937 in Senath, MO and grew up in Kennett, MO, the son of J.D and Pebble Clevenger and the brother of Peggy Eades. Tommy married Nancy Lee Rust of Rector, AR on March 29, 1956 at the age of eighteen and they enjoyed 64 years of marriage, their close bond only growing stronger with time.

Tommy graduated from Memphis State University and served in the Air Force for four years after graduation, achieving the rank of Captain. After his service to his country, he established a successful career in the insurance industry, first with State Farm and then for thirty years with Farmers Insurance Group until retiring in 1998. His career took him and his family to Cape Girardeau and St. Louis, MO, Provo, UT and Little Rock, AR where they eventually settled in 1977. He loved and took great pride in his family and enjoyed fishing, boating and gardening and loved traveling with Nancy and other friends and family all across the US and to dozens of countries on five continents, visiting many favorites over and over again.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Pebble Clevenger and is survived and will be missed by his wife, Nancy; sons, Scott Clevenger and Mike Clevenger (Kay), all of Little Rock, and Gregg Clevenger (Julie) of Folsom, CA; sister, Peggy Eades of Searcy, AR; nine grandchildren, three grandspouses and two great-grandchildren living in Arkansas, Ohio, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Washington, DC; sister-in-law, Gloria Reed of Winfield, IL, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service and celebration of his life will be scheduled at a later date when gatherings are safer and more appropriate.
