Vernon William "Hoppy" Hoffmon

Vernon William “Hoppy” Hoffmon went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2021, at his home in Floyd. His last days were spent surrounded by family and in the loving care of his wife Donna, special daughter Shelly Tapp and Arkansas Hospice.
Hoppy was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on February 9, 1950, to Vernon Marion and Dorothy Weise Hoffmon. He graduated from Joe T. Robinson High School in 1968 and joined the Navy soon after. He served his country for 8 years active duty and 12 years Navy reserve.  He was employed by Best Foods/Skippy for over 18 years, and retired in December 2005.
Hoppy was a people person, and never forgot a face, or a name.  He remembered everyone he had met from elementary school on, and all their families!  EVERYBODY loved Hoppy. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
Hoppy loved working crossword puzzles in ink, meeting his buddies for breakfast at Moose’s Country Store and helping those in need.  But above all, he loved the Lord.  He had expressed frequently over the last weeks that he was ready to see Jesus.  And although his absence will leave a huge hole in all our lives, we rejoice to know that he is in heaven with loved ones who have gone before.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ed Hoffmon, brother-in-law Bill Logan and parents-in-law Rev. Marion C. and Margaret Armstrong Ballard. He is survived by his wife, Karen Donna Hoffmon; daughters Becka (Chris) Manley,  Alethia Hoffmon and Shelly Tapp (Spencer); son, Brent Atkinson (LeeSa);  sister, Dottie Smith (Jim); brothers Jerry Hoffmon (Linda) and Robbie Hoffmon; special friend Sheila Colclasure; granddaughters Mattie Tapp and Noah Atkinson; grandsons Spence Tapp, Elijah Atkinson, Mikel Smith and William (Monica) Woodall; great granddaughters, (“his girls”)  Raylee Smith and Cheyenne Robey; and special sisters Marilyn Ballard Logan and Rebecca Ballard, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Floyd Assembly of God Church Recreation Center on Monday, January 24 from 5-7 p.m.  Memorial service in the sanctuary at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 26.  Both events will be livestreamed on Facebook.  Covid-19 mandates: mask worn at all times, social distancing to be maintained.

Arrangements by Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to In His Footsteps Ministries, Veteran's Benefit Center in Searcy,  or Arkansas Hospice.
