Vickie Brown Patterson

Vickie Darlene Brown was born on May 16, 1950 in Woodson to Ira “Doc” and Litty (Hunthrop) Brown. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on January 13, 2021.

Vickie was as much the spirit of love as she was a human being.

There was nothing she wouldn’t sacrifice for another person, especially family. If you had a need, she would give whatever she had to fill that need. And she never turned anyone away. Her home was everyone’s home. If you needed a place to stay, she would never ask for how long; she merely made space, and prepared a bed.

To Vickie, family and giving were two sides of the same coin. She was a very creative person who loved to sew, and crochet, but she never made anything for herself. For her, happiness was being appreciated. She loved to spend time with her family. Vickie unabashedly coveted every moment with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Holidays were her favorite times of the year, because that meant family would be getting together; she especially enjoyed Christmas. She didn’t have much to spend but she received great joy in giving. At Christmas instead of getting one gift you always knew that you were going to receive several small gifts, because she loved to watch you open your presents. To her, that was worth a thousand times more than any gift that she could have received. Giving was the only true joy in life other than her family.

Many say that Vickie loved the past, but the truth is that she loved family; where they came from, where they were, and where their futures could take them. She loved doing ancestral research, because it gave her a bigger family picture to look at, and no one could ever do it better than she.

Vickie is survived by her daughter Sherry Cameron (husband Howard), sons Steven (wife Malea) and Chad Patterson (wife Shelly) and her sister Lisa Brown Rateliff Pedneau (husband Mike). She had 6 grandchildren, Joshua (wife Jessica) and Brad (wife Maddie) Cameron, Kristen Patterson, Destiny Patterson Pardue (husband Jon), Gracie and Lauren Patterson. 3 great children, Beckham and Brielle Cameron and Sebastian James Pardue. Her niece Kristin Rateliff Mann, nephew Matthew Rateliff (wife Shawn), great nieces Emma and Myla and great nephew Ethan. She is preceded in death by her Mother and Father Litty and Ira “Doc” Brown and her granddaughter Sara, her grandparents Hugh and Ollie Brown and William and Emma Griebel Hunthrop.
