Virginia Adele (Lovan) Sanders

October 13, 1922 ~ January 5, 2021 (age 98)

Our mother has gone to be with our Lord Jesus and to reunite with her heavenly family members preceding her, a meeting of joy and love. No pain can hurt her now that she has the incorruptible body promised by Christ Jesus. We who remain on earth miss her so very much, but we are thankful that she no longer suffers.

Virginia Adele Lovan Sanders of North Little Rock, AR was born in Pine Bluff, AR, October 13, 1922 and raised by her mother Millie and stepfather Clifton J. Downing. She is survived by her children Nancy Sanders Dutton (Vernon) and Donald W. Sanders (Darin); her grandchildren, Angela Sanders Looney (Jason), Matthew Carl Sanders and Lori Hattan; and sister, Dr. Margaret R. Downing of Waldo, AR. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of over 71 years, Carl W. Sanders and her son Neal Clifton Sanders (Sandy).

During Virginia’s 98 years on this earth, her home was the family gathering place for many years and her wonderful cooking was the staple for all Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

After working several years as a Bookkeeper, Virginia was able to devote her time to her artistic talents becoming an accomplished artist and making craft items with her husband.

Virginia was a faithful member of Park Hill Baptist Church for more than 49 years serving as a Sunday School teacher, participating in the Turban Ministry, teaching painting classes, and participating in Triple L (Live Longer and Like it) Club along with many other Senior Adult group activities.

A graveside memorial service will be held January 11, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery, 6707 Dollarway Rd, White Hall, AR with Dr. Ken Shaddox officiating.  Visitation will be Monday, January 11, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Turban or Senior Adult Fund, Park Hill Baptist Church, 201 East C Avenue, North Little Rock, AR 72116.

The family would like to thank Hospice Home Care for their care in Virginia’s last years.  We especially want to thank Patti Haley, Virginia’s nurse for loving Virginia and taking such great care of her.
