Michael Hardcastle

Larry Michael "Mike" Hardcastle, 67, died Wednesday, February 5th, 2020 peacefully at his home in Russellville, Arkansas following a long fought battle with his health.

He leaves his son, Mike; mother, Margaret; sister Sherry and her husband Rick Burton; brother JC, and his wife Sherry; step-sister Vicky Ederington, two grandchildren; Paxton Hardcastle and Erik Hardcastle, soul mate Mari Hardcastle, as well as countless friends and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father; JC Hardcastle, his step-father; Murrell Hardcastle, and step-sister; Connie Hardcastle.

Born and raised in Jacksonville, Arkansas the son of JC and Margaret Hardcastle, he spent most of his life there before retiring to Russellville.

In his early years, he graduated from Sylvan Hills High School, and pursued his career as a "journeyman" until graduating from UEI United Electronics Institute. He retired from Southwest Airlines after 25 years of service.

In 1986, Mike Hardcastle became a father, claiming it to be his "proudest achievement." Mike loved music. He was a left-handed man who taught himself how to play right-handed. His love of music connected many souls together across several generations.

As a natural athlete, Mike loved any and all sports. He played football, was on the coaching staff of his son's soccer team, but enjoyed the many seasons with his softball team the most.

Mr. Hardcastle loved nature, animals, and the outdoors in general. He was a man who knew how to appreciate the simple things in life, and to be grateful for them. He remained optimistic even until his passing.

"Mikey" was loved by many. Whether by his direct family, his countless nieces and nephews, the Macon Monsters, his former teammates, all the musicians he banded with, his airport family or his son's friends who he took in as his own, he was loved. Mike was a devout Christian and he now can finally rest with the Lord.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, in the memory of Mike Hardcastle.

His wishes were to be cremated, so there will be a tribute visitation on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 p.m., with a memorial service Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 2:00 p.m., both at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street.
