Sarah Dana (nee Abraham) Karney, age 79, passed away on January 1, 2021 in Richmond, Virginia (Henrico County). Sarah was born May 13, 1941 in Arkadelphia to the late Fairfax Loughborough and Mildred Dorine Murrell Abraham Sr.

Dana graduated from Texas Woman’s University and received her Master’s degree from The University of Oklahoma.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Fairfax L. Abraham, Sr. and M. Dorine Abraham and her brother Fairfax L. Abraham Jr. Dana is survived by her husband of 43 years, John Edward Grams, her daughters Melissa Morrow, Sarah Sealand (Robert); grandchildren, Cody Morrow, Christian Morrow, Carissa Lynn Morrow, and Cali Morrow; great grandson, Brodee Morrow. A private family burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Garden, Arkadelphia.

Dana was an educator. She was a Physical Education Teacher, Guidance Counselor and High School Principal in Oxnard, California. Most of her professional years she served students and staff at Channel Islands High School, Oxnard. She won the Golden Bell Award for her innovative Crisis Management Team approach for helping students in crisis. She lived in Malibu, California raised her children there and enjoyed sitting on her porch, holding her husband’s hand and watching the sun set over the Pacific Ocean. She also had a home in Tennessee.

Sarah Dana (nee. Abraham) Karney was a member of the following organizations: Colonel Hardy Murfree Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Salmon Creek Chapter Colonial Dames XVII Century, Captain Thomas Jameson Chapter Daughters of the American Colonists, Brigadier General John Coffee Chapter United States Daughters of 1812, The Huguenot Society of Tennessee on Huguenot Ancestor Jean Panetier.
