About Us

The caring and experienced professionals at Smith Family Funeral Homes are here to support you through this difficult time. We offer a range of personalized services to suit your family’s wishes and requirements. You can count on us to help you plan a personal, lasting tribute to your loved one. And we’ll carefully guide you through the many decisions that must be made during this challenging time.

What Makes Us Different

Located right in the middle of downtown Benton, our funeral home is short trip from anywhere—one block from the courthouse, two blocks from N East Street, and just a short distance from a number of the community’s churches. You’ll never have to worry about limiting your guest list because our large chapel can accommodate large services. Additionally, should you choose cremation, our family-owned crematory ensures that your loved one will never be surrendered to a third party who doesn’t share our strict standards of care.

What really sets us apart, however, are the people at Smith Benton. More than just your funeral directors, we are your neighbors and friends. We catch shows at The Royal Theatre, tour the historic Shoppach House, hike across the Old River Bridge at Saline Crossing, and you may even see us at the Salt Bowl football game cheering on our kids. We know that the funeral profession is an extremely personal one, and we never take that honor lightly.

History & Community

Our location on N Market Street was originally Benton’s post office! In fact, what is now the chapel used to serve as the sorting room for the community’s mail. It was later converted into a funeral home and was known as Peaceful Haven Funeral Home until 2012 when it closed its doors and then reopened them as Smith Benton Funeral Home. We have been serving families and enjoying Benton’s unique charm ever since, even becoming one of the major sponsors of the farmer’s market in downtown Benton.

We believe that every good funeral home should be integral to its community, a goal that can’t be achieved just by being there the longest. One of our core values at Smith Family Funeral Homes is giving back to the families who make us great, and we do that by supporting first responders, veterans, caregivers and others by hosting cookouts, birthdays, and more. Our directors and other team members volunteer their time to work with the Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club. We also host an annual Christmas toy drive to support the Union Rescue Mission Dorcas House in their effort to care for abused women and children in the Central Arkansas area.
